What is a Double Turnstile?
- A double turnstile controls 2 different ways same time into or out of a building, room, or area of land, especially one that you have to pay to enter.
- A double full height turnstile is a form of gate which allows two people to pass at a time but from different passage line.
- It can also be made so as to enforce one-way human traffic, and in addition, it can restrict passage only to people who insert a coin, a ticket, a pass, or similar.
- Double Full Height Turnstiles are very common at train/metro stations, stadiums where used toll collection systems.
- Thus, a double turnstile can be used in the case of paid access (sometimes called a faregate or ticket barrier when used for this purpose), for example to access a stadium, or to restrict access to authorized people, for example at the main gate of a facility like power plant, factory, industrial areas etc.
- Double Full Height Turnstiles can be preferred especially for high security required places but multiple entrances.

How does a Double Full Height Turnstile seem?
- Double turnstiles seem like that placed two turnstiles in one body.
- They have aesthetic and slim body which is made with stainless steel commonly.
- It is possible to find double full height turnstiles with glass swings.
- Double full height turnstiles have four arms as they are used high security turnstiles. It is possible that some full height turnstiles have triple arm.
- Double Full height turnstile bodies are designed for high security places. Because its body has not allowed climbing or jumping to reach inside of place.
- LED Matrix lights have been on it for guidance.

How is a double full height turnstile mechanism?
- There are two separate mechanism on the double turnstile, each of them is for per passage.
- Double Full Height Turnstiles often use ratchet mechanisms to allow the rotation of the stile in one direction allowing ingress but preventing rotation in the other direction.
- A lock up arm (pawl) is used to locking at the double full height turnstile mechanism.
- Solenoids push or pull the pawls.
- A drive spring provides the double turnstile arm to return its correct position when passage occurs. Drive spring mechanism has a spring inside its housing used to store mechanical energy. If this spring is compressed more than desired, force applied to turnstile arm rotating force will increase.
- Shock absorber provides the smooth operation of the double turnstile. Kinetic energy of the arm is absorbed by the shock absorber while arm comes to its original place.
- Proximity switches are used to received passage information or position of arms.

How does a double full height turnstile work?
- A person can open the passageway any of double passage with kind of access control systems, card reader systems, remote control systems, biometric systems, ticket accepting devices etc.
- It is a post with a number of short poles sticking out from it that have to be pushed round as each person walks through the entrance.
- After a person has passed, the double turnstile arms locking again immediately. If second passaged is not triggered, it will be stay locked.
- They can allow only one-way passage or bidirectional use.
- In case of fire or any similar emergency situation, free exit option is available.
- If a double full height turnstile is lock while power off, it has been called fail secure double full height turnstile. If a double full height turnstile is free while power off, it has been called fail safe double turnstile.
